OUR CONTROVERSY INDEX

The controversy index is a vital metric for analyzing controversial tweets, providing a quantitative measure of the debate intensity. This index distinguishes tweets that incite strong debates, crucial for understanding the impact of discussions on Twitter, particularly in sensitive areas like health.

To establish the controversy index, we considered several factors:

These factors were normalized to a scale from 0 to 1. Users assign weights to each factor to determine their importance in calculating the controversy index. The index is calculated as:

        Controversy Index = (Weight_likes × Likes) +
                           (Weight_retweets × Retweets) +
                           (Weight_comments × Comments) +
                           (Weight_citations × Citations) +
                           (Weight_positive × Positive Score) +
                           (Weight_negative × Negative Score)

To facilitate in-depth analysis, we display the randomly generated tweet with its characteristics. Additionally, we identify and display the tweet with the highest controversy index based on user-assigned weights. This approach provides a comprehensive analysis of the controversy index and its contributing factors.
